Steven Bjella, violin Steve Bjella has performed throughout the United States, appearing both as soloist and in a variety of chamber ensembles. He holds degrees in performance and music education from the University of Iowa, where he studied with Leopold LaFosse and the Stradivari Quartet. He has also studied with the Vermeer, Fine Arts and New Hungarian Quartets. Before moving to Stevens Point he lived in Chicago and was on the faculty of Valparaiso University and Saint Xavier College, a member of the Governor’s State University String Quartet, and a member of the contemporary music ensembles, Chicago Camerata and Loop Group. Mr. Bjella had an active free-lance career as well, performing on numerous commercial recordings and was concertmaster of the Chicago Chamber Orchestra and Chicago Light Opera Orchestra. Steve joined the music faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1991 and holds the positions of Artist/Teacher of Violin and Professor of Music. An active performer and teacher, he has written two books on violin technique, Beginning Repertoire for the Advanced Violinist and Scales and Arpeggios, Block Fingering Exercises for the Advanced Violinist, and given master-classes at colleges and high-schools across the country. He also enjoys making music with his colleagues in the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra and is concertmaster of the orchestra. Andres Moran, horn Recently appointed to the music faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Andres Moran serves as the director of the UWSP Symphony Orchestra and artist/teacher of horn. From 2009 to 2016, Moran was the Resident Conductor of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra and the Music Director and General Manager of the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras. During his time in El Paso, the EPSYOs grew to serve over 300 young musicians throughout the greater Southwest region. Moran’s responsibilities with the El Paso Symphony included creating and implementing all of the organization’s education and outreach programs, including their presentation of six annual Carnegie Hall Link Up concerts for over 14,000 area 5th grade students. A highly sought-after clinician and conductor, Moran has served on the conducting staffs of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony and the prestigious Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. In March 2015, the Detroit Symphony invited Moran to guest conduct DSO’s Civic Youth Orchestra. In January 2013, Moran conducted the New Mexico Music Educators All-State Orchestra. Since 2015, he has conducted the Music in the Mountains Conservatory Orchestra in Durango, Colorado and led the Festival Orchestra in pops and family concerts. Moran studied conducting at Indiana University and holds a master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from Southern Methodist University. Moran’s principal conducting teachers are David Effron, Arthur Fagen, and Dr. Paul C. Phillips. An accomplished horn player, Moran is the principal horn of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, Brevard Music Center Orchestra, and the Sarasota Music Festival. In 1999 and 2000, Moran was selected as a finalist in the International Horn Society’s Solo Horn Competition. His horn instructors include Nancy Joy, Gregory Hustis, and Myron Bloom. Mary Moran, viola Mary Moran is principal viola of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra. As the CWSO's Education and Community Engagement Coordinator, she performs in area schools as part of the Meet the Music program introducing elementary-age students to orchestral instruments. Previously, she was a member of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, and Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra in addition to other ensembles in Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas. She has also performed with the National Repertory Orchestra, and at the Aspen Music Festival, the Round Top Festival Institute, and the Castleton Festival in Virginia. Additionally, she enjoys an active career as a chamber musician. Mary maintains a private studio of violin and viola students in the Central Wisconsin area, working with young beginners, advanced students, and adults. Mary has been teaching privately for over fifteen years, and received long-term Suzuki training with Pat D'Ercole at the Aber Suzuki Center. She has also worked as a sectional and chamber music coach with the Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra and El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestra programs. Mary earned a Master of Music degree in Viola Performance from Southern Methodist University, where she studied with Ellen Rose. She also completed a Master of Music degree in Music History and Literature from SMU. Prior to that, Mary earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Viola Performance from the University of Oklahoma, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. While at Oklahoma, she studied with Wayne Crouse, Matthew Dane, and Ellen Rose. Molly Roseman, piano Dr. Molly Roseman, Professor of Piano, whose playing has been described as “authoritative and artistic”, is a versatile performer taking on active roles as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist. Her performances have taken her across the state, regional, and national levels. She is an active member of the Copernicus Piano Trio, a UWSP faculty chamber ensemble. For over 25 years, she has performed extensively as a member of the Roseman Flute/Piano Duo with flutist and husband, Jacob Roseman. They have been featured on Wisconsin Public Radio and various national and international radio outlets. Additional performances have taken them to many university and community recital series across the United States. She has been a featured soloist with various regional orchestras in the Upper Midwest such as the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, the Maple City Chamber Orchestra (IN), the UWSP Symphony Orchestra, and the UWSP Wind Ensemble. Ms. Roseman has performed numerous times on WPR’s “Live at the Chazen” series and has appeared in such venues as the South Beach Up North Music Festival, the Atlanta Pro-Mozart Society, the Tallahassee Bach Parley Series, the National Flute Association Convention, the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association Convention, the Wisconsin Flute Festival, the Midwest Horn Workshop, and the International Saxophone Symposium. She performed many years with the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra where she held the post of principal keyboardist. Dr. Roseman is a devoted educator and active member of Wisconsin Music Teacher’s Association. She regularly gives masterclasses and workshops across the region. Her interests include French piano music where she has studied in France with the distinguished Debussy/Ravel scholar and pianist, Paul Roberts. Roseman holds degrees from Florida State University, the Eastman School of Music, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory. She has studied under the tutelage of pianists Richard Cass, James Streem, and renowned conductor/pianist, Jeffrey Kahane. She has held teaching positions at Florida State University, Oklahoma Baptist University, Morehead State University, and the Wausau Conservatory of Music.
