Dunn County Medication Take-Back Event

Dunn County residents are encouraged to bring unwanted or unused medications to the free Medication Take-Back event on Saturday, April 28, 2012.  The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at two Menomonie locations:  Mayo Clinic Health System - Red Cedar, East Parking Lot & Education Center, 2321 Stout Road, Menomonie and the UW-Stout Student Health Center Conference Room, 103 1st Avenue West, Menomonie.  Drive up drop-off will be available at both locations.  There is no cost to participate and no personal information will be requested.

Participants should bring unwanted tablets or capsules in a sealable bag and liquids in their original leak-proof plastic containers.  Medications accepted include prescription tablets, capsules, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, sample medications, pet medications, medicated ointments, creams, patches, sprays and inhalers.  To help ensure your privacy please black out personal information from containers.

Do not bring needles (insulin or syringes), personal care products (shampoo, soaps, etc.), hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, thermometers, IV bags, empty containers, household hazardous waste or business waste.

This event is being organized in collaboration with the National Pharmaceutical Take-Back Initiative sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.  It is designed to help residents rid their homes of potentially dangerous controlled substances in a safe way that doesn’t harm the ground water supply.
