Learn to see like an artist.

Build drawing skills through observation, practice, and creative exploration.

Includes one instructor-led session, four optional open art labs, and all supplies.

Drawing starts with observation. In this welcoming class, you'll learn techniques to help interpret what you see, from proportion and perspective to line quality and negative space. Artists at any experience level are welcome.

After the instructor-led session, put those skills into practice during four optional open art labs with access to studio space and still life setups for a full 10 hours of learning and drawing.

Meet Your Instructor

Hannah Phelps is an artist and academic staff member at UW-Stout Polytechnic who supports exhibitions in the Furlong Gallery. She earned her B.F.A. in Studio Art from UW-Stout Polytechnic in 2021 and worked as a drawing tutor as a student.

Youth ages 12 and up are welcome with a registered parent or guardian.

Instructor-led session: Thurs., Oct. 29, 2026, 6 to 8 p.m.

Open art labs: Sat., Oct. 31, Nov. 7, 14 and 21, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Location: UW-Stout Polytechnic, Micheels Hall Room 295

Regular Registration: $150, includes all supplies and sessions.
