Job Duties:

The Department of Operations and Management at the University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position, for a three-year renewable contract, to join us on January 1, 2026. We are seeking two dedicated industry-based educators in construction that demonstrate leadership and utilize experiential, applied-learning instructional techniques.  

 

The successful candidate will become part of an innovative and supportive community that prioritizes an executive-based learning model in teaching with active student engagement. As a polytechnic university, we emphasize experiential learning by providing students with authentic as well as hands-on experiences in both classroom, laboratory and industry settings. Our program, with over 300 students, receives substantial support from alumni and major construction firms both regionally and nationally. The primary role of this position will be teaching in construction, both traditional and hybrid courses in Estimating, Project Scheduling and Cost Control, Light Construction Methods and Materials, and Architectural Graphics.

 

Expected scholarly and service activities include advisement of students in undergraduate programs, tracking program learning outcomes, serving on the program team, and advising relevant student organizations or competition teams.

Department:

The Operations and Management (O&M) Department is housed in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Management. O&M primarily serves undergraduate majors in Management, Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Technology, Construction, and Packaging, as well as graduate majors in Training and Human Resources Development, Engineering, Risk Control and Management, and Operations and Supply Management. The department currently has 40 faculty/staff and offers more than 50 courses and 100 different sections each semester.?UW-Stout’s Operations and Management Department is committed to creating an inclusive campus community. Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field such as architecture or civil engineering paired with industry credentials such as NCARB, RA, CCM, CPC.
  • Five years of industry experience in a leadership role with supervisory responsibilities managing complex projects in construction areas.
  • Active network within construction industry organizations, regional or national. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in construction related field and/or credentials related to specific teaching areas in construction.
  • Ten (10) years of business/industry experience with demonstrated leadership or ownership of a construction company with experience spanning various aspects of construction building construction methods.  
  • Engagement in construction programs at technical college or university level through cooperative education experiences, recruitment of students, service as a guest speaker, provide course projects, and/or hands on demonstrations.
  • Three (3) years of combined teaching and/or industry training experience.
