CVTC board approves 2026-27 budget
Expenditures up less than 1 percent
EAU CLAIRE – Chippewa Valley Technical College District Board approved its budget at the board meeting on Thursday.
Caleb Cornelius, vice president of administration and chief strategy officer, said CVTC is committed to student and community success through meaningful instruction and sound financial planning.
"We focus on providing the high-quality educational outcomes that our students and community need while actively, carefully, and responsibly managing our resources to balance the budget," he said.
The budget calls for total expenditures of $115,475,407, an increase of 0.82 percent from the 2025-26 revised budget. Total revenues are projected to be $104,107,191, down 2.37 percent from 2025-26, or nearly flat when accounting for one-time revenue from 2025-2026.
"While this year's budget is balanced, as we look at our projections for future years, given the current funding model and levels, it will become increasingly difficult to balance the budget without additional state investments in general aid," Cornelius said.
An estimated 7 percent increase in property values will decrease the mill rate from $63.88 per $100,000 of property value to $61.75, a 3.33 percent decrease. While the mill rate is decreasing, the overall amount estimated to be collected throughout the district via the tax levy is $30,312,403, up 3.43 percent from the previous year.
"We are grateful for the resources we receive from our local taxpayers, it ensures students have the opportunity to thrive in our region and stay in Wisconsin with 63 percent of our graduates employed within our district and 86 percent employed within Wisconsin," Cornelius added.
The tax levy will be set at the October 2026 meeting.
