Art opening: Portraits The Photography of Mark Aumann Live music by: Take2Day

The face of suffering and struggle was hard to ignore and became a central focus in my photography. It was time to engage. Photographing strangers is not easy and requires a personal investment in emotional energy for both the photographer and viewers of the subjects captured. The portraits in this show were taken in Haiti, Vietnam, Cuba and Nicaragua. Take2Day is the musical collaboration of vocalist Barbara Lyon and pianist/composer Patrick Pesek-Herriges. In the 90s, they part of the Reunion Blues band. Their sequel duo, Take2Day, was launched in a 2008 concert at the Mabel Tainter. Their repertoire includes standards, jazz repertoire, and Patrick's jazz-based song, with recent additions of new standards from pop and rock.
