This Saturday, June 26th, from noon to 5pm at Wakanda Park - Southside Shelter , in Menomonie WI, the Dunn County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (www.DunnARES.org) will be participating in the ARRL 2021 Field Day activities (www.arrl.org/field-day) and will be open for public demonstration. The Dunn County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (DCARES) is comprised of local amateur ham radio operators that support the community in various events throughout the year including trained Skywarn weather spotting and radio communication for local fun runs and aviation shows. Ham radio operators can communicate globally through Voice, CW (Morse Code), Digital (chatting / texting), and Email without the need for infrastructure. This event is open to the public and the DCARES Team will be demonstrating this communication capability using portable radios and simple antennas such as a wire in a tree. Stop by and meet the friendly Team, understand more about the ham radio hobby and maybe talk to another radio operator across the nation or across the globe. Field Day is ham radio's open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio. Look for the "Ham Radio Field Day" signs as the Team will be setup at the Southside Shelter in Wakanda Park from noon to 5pm on June 26th. See you there!
