Experience a one-of-a kind paint immersion at Cirenaica. Lunch included. This one day workshop will concentrate on the relativity of color in light using a primary limited palette. The day will begin with a short lecture and demonstration of how to problem solve the color of light at hand in the landscape. Kami will emphasize the importance of the properties of color to problem solve the effect of light you are painting: hue, value, temperature, and saturation. Students will do several small studies during the day, applying a step-by-step approach to problem solving and mixing color. Plan to learn a lot and become immersed in color! The only requirements are a hardy love of the outdoors and a positive attitude. Participating artists are invited to continue exhibiting their paintings from this event at the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center after the event through September if desired. Brush cleaner (metal can with snap down lid) Gamsol (mineral spirits) Viva paper towels Light gray pastel pencil Easel: portable field easel (French easel or Easy L. classic from Artwork Essentials) Panels: It really varies from painter to painter what they prefer to work on. I use many different surfaces depending on what I am painting, how large, and what the subject matter is. One of my favorite surfaces to work on is C-12, that's clausens oil primed linen. The 12 stands for the tooth (texture) of the linen. It's fairly fine and lovely to work on. However for getting going and trying a great 'go to' and cheap surface I use a LOT of Pintura Brand panels. You can buy those through Jerry's Artarama online. I do most of my plein air work on these canvas boards and love the way the paint goes on them. -I would suggest getting a linen/ canvas pad in a 11x14 or 12x16 size. I like the Centurian pad from Jerry's or ASW online. It's a good way to do studies without spending a lot of money! I'll show you how to use them on the first night of class.
