Intro to Tree ID and Nature Prints

Join us for a walk in the forest as we learn the basics of tree identification and cyanotype print making. Participants will learn how to use a Dichotomous Tree Identification Key, and then we will go for a short hike to practice our new ID skills. While out on the trail, we will gather natural materials (leaves, flowers, grasses, etc.) to bring back for cyanotypes, which you might also know as “nature prints” or “sun prints”. Learn more about the history of the cyanotype from Volunteer Naturalists Rachel Urban and Andy Wians while you create your own prints to take home with you. ?All print materials will be provided. Please come prepared for a short hike around the BCR South Trails.  Registration and full payment required by September 13.
