The Dunn County Humane Society is seeking a mission-driven, part-time Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter of growth, sustainability, and community service.

This is a unique opportunity to steward a respected nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of animals and the people who care for them. The Executive Director provides strategic, financial, and operational leadership while working closely with the Board of Directors and leadership team to ensure strong governance, fiscal responsibility, and mission fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Governance
  • Champion the organization’s mission, vision, and values
  • Lead strategic planning and long-term organizational growth
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors
  • Guide policy development and ensure strong governance practices
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and mission-focused culture
  • Provide cross-department leadership and conflict resolution
Financial Stewardship
  • Lead development of the annual organizational budget
  • Oversee financial reporting and ensure fiscal accountability
  • Strengthen long-term financial sustainability
  • Ensure grant compliance and reporting
Fundraising & Community Engagement
  • Guide overall fundraising strategy and revenue development
  • Cultivate and steward donor relationships
  • Support public communications and media engagement
  • Build strategic partnerships within the community
Legal & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare laws and nonprofit regulations
  • Oversee risk management and organizational compliance systems
Human Resources Leadership
  • Provide oversight of hiring, onboarding, and performance management
  • Ensure HR compliance, documentation, and policies
  • Support leadership development and team accountability
Qualifications
  • Senior leadership experience in nonprofit management or a related field
  • Strong experience with financial oversight and budgeting
  • Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and community engagement
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborative leadership style grounded in integrity, transparency, and compassion
